What is the Level 2 Food Safety in Catering?

The Level 2 Food Safety in Catering is designed as an introduction to the essentials of food hygiene. It is aimed at individuals who handle food and drink as part of their everyday or occasional working routines and provides a good introduction to the fundamentals of food hygiene and the causes and prevention of food poisoning.

How much does it cost?

The Level 2 Food Safety in Catering is £15.

Why do I need it?

If you work in the industry and handle food or drink on a daily basis, this is the course for you. It is vital for you to understand your responsibility to provide clean and healthy working practices.

If you employ staff who handle food and drink as part of their day-to-day activities, it is your responsibility to ensure they are fully trained and understand the importance of maintaining a clean and safe food and drink environment.

What does the exam consist of?

If you choose to sit the formal exam you are given up to 40 minutes to complete. The accredited exam consists of 30 multiple choice questions that follow the modules from the course. You must answer 20 out of 30 correct to pass the examination.

Does the e-learning course have an exam in it?

Yes, the course does provide a practice exam to help you prepare for the formal and accredited exam.

How long is the course?

The e-learning course is designed to take around 5 hours to complete. This will depend on your prior experience and on how much time you allocate to complete the course (e.g. you may wish to complete the whole course in one sitting, or complete modules of the course over a period of time). When and how you learn is flexible and you can choose what suits you the best.
