Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NCPLH?

The BIIAB Level 2 National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders (NCPLH) is a nationally recognised qualification designed for anyone authorising the retail sale of alcohol in licensed premises.

How much does it cost?

The NCPLH course is £90. This does not include the examination fee.

Why do I need it?

The qualification is legally required by the Licensing Act of 2003 if you want to sell alcohol in England and Wales. Your local authority will reject your application for a Personal Licence without this nationally recognised qualification.

What does the exam consist of?

The test consists of 40 multiple-choice questions and you have up to 40 minutes to complete it.

Does the e-learning course have an exam in it?

Yes, the e-learning course has a practice exam to help you prepare for the formal, accredited exam that learners can choose to take with one of our partners.

How long is the course?

The e-learning course is designed to take around 5 hours to complete. This will depend on your prior experience and on how much time you allocate to complete the course (e.g. you may wish to complete the whole course in one sitting, or complete modules of the course over a period of time). When and how you learn is flexible and you can choose what suits you the best.

Do you offer other online training courses?

Yes! We offer Level 2 Food Safety in Catering as of now, with many more to come.
